MS Updates and Announcements for Nov 17 to 21

Next week, the teachers from all divisions will gather for a day of professional development. While the students get a day off from classes, the teachers will be meeting to align curricula across grade levels and divisions, learn updates on our SEL program (Wayfinder), and receive training from our new Director of Student Support Services. Our staff reflects lifelong learning and striving to always improve ourselves to serve the students better every day.

The Virtue of the Month for November is Peace.   

As we continue our look into this month’s virtue, we change our lens to look at how inner peace can combat the stressors our kids are feeling in Middle School. In this article by Build Your Safe Space counseling, they recognize the connection between stress and physical wellbeing. Our kids are not only navigating the normal changes of being in middle school, including social changes with friends and peers, and physical changes as they mature, but they’ve lived through the pandemic and all the negative effects that it had on all of us. Helping our kids learn about mindfulness, a practice towards finding your inner peace, will bring them many benefits at enjoying their middle school years more and being happier and healthier going into high school.  

Please check out this article, then have a chat with your child about practicing these habits. While having the chat, have a check-in on how well they are doing in their daily lives with balancing family, school, friends, and life in general.
